Adults BJJ Classes
Comprehensive Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adults — fundamentals through advanced. Beginners always welcome.
Ages 16+
The adult BJJ program at Gracie Barra Coral Springs is built on the Gracie Barra curriculum — a structured system developed and refined across more than 1,000 academies worldwide. Professor Sergio Costa, a 3rd-degree black belt with an IBJJF World Championship medal, leads adult classes with a technical focus that students at every level benefit from. The curriculum removes the guesswork from early training: you know what you're learning each week and why it connects to what came before.
GB1 Fundamentals is the entry point for every practitioner, regardless of athletic background or prior martial arts experience. This track covers the positions that matter most — guard, mount, side control, back control — along with the escapes, sweeps, and submissions that make each position functional. The sequencing is logical: techniques build on each other, and by the end of a full cycle you can recognize the underlying structure of any position you encounter.
Advanced sessions and live training rounds are available for practitioners with more experience who need competition-level intensity. Open mat gives students the space to work on specific weaknesses or experiment with new sequences outside of structured class time. Morning, midday, and evening class times run throughout the week so that the schedule fits your life, not the other way around.
For adults who have considered BJJ but assumed it requires a high athletic baseline, the Gracie Barra approach is a meaningful departure from that assumption. The emphasis on leverage and position over strength means that a 45-year-old with no martial arts background can train productively alongside a 25-year-old with wrestling experience — and both will improve.
