Little Champs 2 Classes

Next-level Little Champs — more challenging techniques, deeper drilling, age-matched live training.

Ages 8-9

Little Champions 2 takes Gracie Barra Coral Springs's eight-and-nine-year-old students deeper into the technical material than the younger program. Children at this developmental stage can retain and apply detailed coaching feedback across sessions, which means the curriculum introduces more complex positions, offensive sequences, and defensive frameworks — built on the foundation laid in earlier years of the Gracie Barra kids track.

The teaching format is the same three-step sequence used across all programs — demonstration, partner drilling, positional play — but the content is more demanding. Guard passing combinations, submission defense, and positional chains are all part of the weekly instruction. Partner drilling includes controlled resistance, meaning children practice applying technique against a moving partner who is trying not to let the technique work — the closest thing to live training that is appropriate for this age group.

Professor Sergio Costa's coaching staff works with Little Champions 2 students using specific, technical feedback rather than general praise. Children at this age respond to being treated as capable — they want to know why a technique isn't working, not just that it needs work. That coaching precision is part of what drives the retention rate in this program. Students who reach Little Champions 2 having started in Tiny Champions or Little Champions 1 are among the most technically capable young practitioners in the western Broward market.

The transition from Little Champions 2 into the Juniors program is deliberate. Students who have completed the LC2 curriculum arrive in Juniors with the positional vocabulary and drilling habits that allow them to keep pace with older students immediately. Why Train Little Champs 2?

  • More technically demanding curriculum matched to eight-and-nine-year-olds who can retain and apply coaching feedback
  • Guard passing, submission defense, and offensive chains added to the positional framework from earlier levels
  • Controlled resistance in partner drilling — children practice technique against a moving partner, not just a cooperative one
  • Specific technical feedback from coaching staff — children learn why a technique isn't working, not just that it needs adjustment
  • Clear preparation for the Juniors program — LC2 graduates arrive at ages 10 to 14 already fluent in fundamental positions
  • Belt-and-stripe progression continues — progress is visible and tracked through the year with clear benchmarks
